ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Nature is calling, or is it, emailing? Now that workers are no longer tethered to desks it was only a matter of time until nature evolved to sustain their mobility. In response to the ever-growing group of digital nomads, the earth has sprung forth with organic power strips, USB ports, and other helpful office devices. Finally! Mother nature is ready for us all to achieve the illusive work-life balance.

Excavated from national parks, lush forests and rocky shores these unique work companions are now amassed into their first-ever natural history exhibit, Remote Work. Delve into this important collection that encapsulates the benefits of constant productivity. Explore the phenomena of what happened as humans advocated to work from anywhere, instead of demanding to work less.

ABOUT THE CURATOR

Lea Devon Sorrentino is a multimedia artist who has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her practice is an auto-ethnographic investigation of her life in pursuit of understanding contemporary American culture. Or, in not art speak, she is interested in why we love things that hurt us and cry at reality television.

Lea Devon’s work encompasses installation, video, service aesthetics, and performance. She has developed and produced podcasts, written mini-series, and is an avid writer. These endeavors had her named among the “Artists to Watch″ by the Walker Art Center.


She is a member of the Vox Populi collective in Philadelphia and has attended several artists’ residencies– most recently Tiny Birch Residency in Vermont. Lea Devon received her Bachelor of Arts at Temple University, Tyler School of Art and a Masters Degree at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
